Panjokhra Sahib is a historical place dedicated to the memory of the eighth Guru, Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji. Guru Ji visited this place on their way to Delhi. There lived a learned Pandit, Lal Chand by name, who was proud of his caste as well as of his learning. Besides other disciples of Guru Ghar he also came to see the Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji and questioned their knowledge and challenged to interpret the meanings of Bhagvat Gita. Cleverly, he brought one Chhaju Ram, an illiterate village water carrier for the task. Guru Ji entrusted this task to him and placed their stick on his head and asked the Pandit to read any salok from Bhagvat Gita and Chajju Ram ji will interpret it. Pandit Lal Chand choose the toughest one and read it. Quickly Chajju Ram objected and told the Pandit that he was not correctly reading the Salok, and at the same time Chajju Ram pronounced the Salok correctly and convinced Pandit by his commentary on the sacred Salok. Lal Chand’s pride was overcome. Rumbly, he fell at the Guru’s feet. Bothe Chajju Ram and Pandit Lal Chand became true disciples of Guru Ghar. The Kar Sewa of the building of this holy shrine besides its Jora Ghar, Sarovar (holy water pond), pilgrim rest house, Langar hall and corridor is undertaken by Baba Jagtar Singh ji of Dera Kar Sewa Tarn Taran and continues with cooperation of sangat.
